Associate Professor Dr. Oratai Piayura won the prestigious award for “Women who have contributed to society and the country” on International Women’s Day 2025.

On March 8, 2025, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University, led by Associate Professor Dr. Oratai Piayura, Dean, and executives, attended the International Women’s Day 2025, organized under the theme “3 Decades of the Beijing Declaration: Opportunities and Challenges for Equality for Women and Girls”, organized by the Department of Women’s Affairs and Family Institute, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, at the Pakorn Angsusingh Meeting Room, 2nd floor, Department of Social Development and Welfare Building, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Bangkok. The event included an award ceremony to honor individuals who have played an important role in promoting gender equality and social development. Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Social Development and Human Security, presided over the opening ceremony and presented plaques of honor to those honored. On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Oratai Piayura, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University, was selected to receive the special honorary award “Women who have contributed to society and the country”, which is an award given to women who have dedicated themselves and are committed to working in the areas of human, community, and social development, especially in education and community development. Students from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, KKU, organized the 9th Humanities and Society Camp to spark the ideas of the new generation towards social diversity.

The Student Council of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University, organized the “Human-Social Camp Project No. 9” to promote learning and provide educational opportunities to students in remote areas. It focuses on inspiring and developing skills for youth. The Student Council of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University, organized the 9th Human-Social Camp Project for the 2024 academic year at Hat Kham Bon Watthana School, Hat Kham Subdistrict, Mueang Nong Khai District, Nong Khai Province. The opening ceremony was honored by Mr. Anurat Naowarat, the school director. Hat Kham Bon Watthana School is an opportunity expansion school in Mueang Nong Khai District, Nong Khai Province, under the Office of the Primary Educational Service Area 1 of Nong Khai. It has been teaching from kindergarten 1 to Mathayom 3 since January 30 - February 2, 2025. The 9th Human-Social Camp Project was organized under the concept of “HUSO On Son Sa On Nong Khai” with the objective of developing potential and encouraging students to share and help others through the process of organizing volunteer camps for development and community service. Students gained knowledge and understanding of the community and gained more experience from community-based learning. It also promotes students to have skills in working with others, have analytical thinking processes in a holistic manner, and be able to solve problems systematically.

Human-Society, KKU, joins forces with the Mekong Basin Region Network to hold an academic seminar on “The Mekong Basin Region in the Current Context: From the Perspectives of Neighboring Archive, Superpowers, and Academics” to create an international academic cooperation network.

On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University, in collaboration with the Thailand Academies of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts (TASSHA), organized an academic seminar on the topic of “The Mekong Basin Region in the Current Context: From the Perspectives of Neighboring Archives, Superpowers, and Academics.” The seminar was honored to have Associate Professor Dr. Chanchai Panthongviriyakul, President of Khon Kaen University, as the chairman of the opening ceremony. Alumni of Humanities and Social Sciences, KKU, created quality theses and won 3 National Research Awards in 2025 and received the awards from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

On February 2, 2025, graduate alumni of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University received certificates from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on the occasion of receiving the National Research Awards 2025 at the “Inventors’ Day 2025” event, organized under the theme “Thai Inventions and Innovations: National Challenges” by the National Research Office (NRCT), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation at the BITEC Bangna Exhibition and Convention Center. The 2025 National Research Awards ceremony was held to honor Thai researchers and inventors who have created research works, inventions and innovations that are beneficial to national development, as well as to promote research and development in various fields, including science, technology, humanities and social sciences, with a focus on enhancing potential and enhancing the ability to produce quality work. The ASEAN Studies Center, KKU, organized Tet Festival activities.

The ASEAN Studies Center, Khon Kaen University, was honored by Assistant Professor Dr. Marasri Sothip, Deputy Dean for Student Development and Alumni Relations, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, to preside over the opening ceremony of the “Tet Festival” on January 30, 2025, which was the second year of the event. Assistant Professor Dr. Kiratiporn Chutawiriya, Acting Director of the ASEAN Studies Center, Khon Kaen University, reported on the objectives of organizing this event. The ASEAN Studies Center, Khon Kaen University, together with all lecturers and students of the Vietnamese Studies minor, supported and promoted the learning of those interested in Vietnamese studies, and students gained skills in Vietnamese cooking culture, performing arts and culture, and Vietnamese speech contests, which are important parts of creating a valuable cultural and social learning atmosphere. The success of this event was due to the cooperation of lecturers and students who participated in all parties, as well as support from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thananan Boonwanna, lecturer of the Vietnamese Studies minor, lecturers, staff, and the community within Khon Kaen University, with more than 100 participants from various fields of study, both inside and outside the faculty. It is also a good opportunity for Vietnamese people in the Khon Kaen University community to meet and celebrate the important festival together. HUSO KKU Gender Studies Center holds seminar on Marriage Equality Act, enhances understanding, prepares for effective use of the law

On January 21, 2025, the Gender Studies Center, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phimkorn Dommongkol, Acting Director of the Center, organized an academic seminar to prepare relevant agencies before the enforcement of the Marriage Equality Act B.E. 2567 at the Kaen Kaen Khun Room, Le Cassia Hotel, Khon Kaen Province. This seminar was honored by Associate Professor Dr. Oratai Phiayura, Dean, as the opening chairman. The event included a lecture on the background and importance of the Marriage Equality Act B.E. 2567 by Assistant Professor Dr. Damorn Kamtrai, Department of Law, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Khon Kaen University, Nong Khai Campus, and a lecture on the rights to be protected as Thai citizens and basic universal human rights by Mr. Thaweesit Boontham, Director of Welfare and Labor Protection, Khon Kaen Province. In addition, we were honored to have qualified speakers to exchange ideas to prepare relevant agencies from various sectors, both civil society and the media. This is a medium that will help promote knowledge and understanding about equal marriage rights to expand to cover all social dimensions for the public sector. It consists of Dr. Rongrat Wirojphet, a lawyer and academic from Khon Kaen University, Ms. Chatchaporn Ngamkliang from the Office of Social Development and Human Security, Khon Kaen Province, Dr. Chira Thongkrajai, President of the Isan Sexual Diversity Network Foundation (IGDN), and Mr. Achanawit Inha, Assistant Editor of Isan Record News Agency. This seminar is an important preparation for various agencies.
