Faculty of Nursing, Khon Kaen University joins hands with 15 agencies in the Northeast to develop a sustainable public health care system.

On March 19, 2025, the Faculty of Nursing, Khon Kaen University, organized the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with more than 15 government and local agencies in the Northeast via online system to jointly drive the development of the healthcare system and community health services to be more efficient and sustainable. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ampornpan Thiranut, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, presided over the ceremony, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thidarat Boonmas, Vice President for Innovation and Enterprise, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sombhop Banharak, Vice Dean for Research, Innovation and International Affairs, and Asst. Prof. Kittiphum Phinyo, Head of the Department of Family and Community Nursing, who honored the ceremony. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ampornpan Thiranut, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, said that this signing ceremony is an important starting point in improving the quality of life of people in the Northeast region for the better through the development of the community health system, focusing on the exchange of knowledge and driving research and innovation for health that is tangibly beneficial to the community, as well as building the potential of health personnel to be able to effectively care for people of all ages. The agencies participating in the signing ceremony included the Khon Kaen Provincial Administrative Organization. KKU creates new generation chefs with “Master Thai Chef Program 1st Generation” to promote Thai food as a global soft power.

Recently, the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, in collaboration with the Faculty of Technology and the Office of Academic Services, Khon Kaen University, organized the project “One Village, One Professional Thai Chef (Master Thai Chef Program), Generation 1”, which was honored by Mr. Saowakit Preeprem (Chef Kitty), President of the Federation of Thai Chefs Associations, Chef Teerawit Disayachaipong (Chef Jaguar), under the supervision of Dr. Phongsaphan Satthathip, Deputy Dean for Industrial Relations and Sustainability, Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, who was in charge of the project. The activity started with an orientation for more than 38 participating students from the Bachelor of Business Administration program in Hospitality and Event Management, Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, and the Bachelor of Culinary Science and Technology, Faculty of Technology. In addition, there was an introduction to the use of the OFOS Thai Food system, which is a specialized online learning platform, and preparation for internships at leading establishments. Participating students in the program will learn to cook more than 50 Thai dishes through a blended learning method, both online and practical, totaling 240 hours, with Ms. Atiya Trappokpoon, a laboratory staff member. Ms. Phanthila Hiranno, an educational specialist, and Ms. Nantaphorn Khamsontha, a general affairs manager, are instructors and participants in the training system.

Faculty of Technology joins in driving sustainable waste management guidelines by the Royal Society under the Royal Society Mobile Lecture Project

Faculty of Technology, Khon Kaen University, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Araya Chaowaruangrit, Dean of the Faculty of Technology, and Professor Dr. Alisara Ruangsaeng, Deputy Dean for Research and International Affairs, along with students from the Faculty of Technology, attended the academic seminar on “Sustainable Solid Waste Management” organized by the Office of Science, Royal Society of Thailand under the Royal Society’s Mobile Lecture Project and the Earth Science and Environmental Science Thought Center Project for Fiscal Year 2024 on March 18, 2025 at Room M3, Science Park, Khon Kaen University. This seminar was honored by Emeritus Professor Dr. Surapol Issarakraisil, President of the Royal Society of Thailand, as the opening chairman, with Emeritus Professor Dr. Sawitree Limthong as the reporter. The purpose of this seminar was to inform participants of the policies and development plans for sustainable solid waste management, from government policy levels, local management, cooperation and support from the private sector, and practices of the general public. It was also a forum for exchanging knowledge and ideas on effective solid waste management for application in daily life. In addition, to create awareness of the global crisis in solid waste, the morning session of the seminar began with a special lecture on “Plastic Waste Problems and Solutions” by Professor Dr. Jongrak Phonprasert, Royal Academician, School of Science. This was followed by a discussion on “Guidelines for Developing a Sustainable Solid Waste Management System in Thailand” by four distinguished speakers: Emeritus Professor Dr. Thares Srisathit, Advisor to the Environmental Engineering Association of Thailand and the National Environment Committee; and Ms. Tasanai Prachuapmon, Director of the Public Health Promotion Division, Office of Public Health and Environment, Khon Kaen Municipality.

Experts from Khon Kaen University present national disaster prevention guidelines at the Senate forum

                    Associate Professor Supasit Konyai, expert in cement core weir construction, joins the discussion on drought and flood crisis management in the meeting of the Subcommittee on State Administration. Associate Professor Supasit Dr. Konyai, Deputy Director of Academic Services, lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering, expert in water resource management from Khon Kaen University, along with Mr. Suphatdit Ratchatha, expert in cement core weir construction, and Mr. Phatthaphon Na Nongkhai, advisor to the subcommittee, were honored to join the meeting of the Subcommittee on State Administration on National Disaster Management, Senate, chaired by Pol. Maj. Gen. Romsit Wiriyasan, at the CA 327 Committee Meeting Room, 3rd Floor, Parliament Building. This important meeting focused on the discussion on “Water Resource Management to Prevent and Solve Disaster Problems,” especially on the issue of weir construction to slow down, trap, and store water on high ground, which is an important approach to alleviate flood and drought crises that are becoming more severe. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supasit Konyai presented knowledge and innovative water management approaches developed by academics from Khon Kaen University. which has proven its effectiveness in dealing with Thailand's climate extremes. Khon Kaen University joins hands with Sila Municipality to upgrade local schools by organizing open house activities to showcase learning innovations.

March 20, 2025 – Khon Kaen University, Faculty of Education, College of Local Administration and Sila Municipality jointly organized the “OPEN CLASS and BEST PRACTICE Presentation” activity at Kotha Municipality School under the academic cooperation project to upgrade education. This activity aims to upgrade the educational standards of Kotha Municipality School by using the teaching and learning management approach and curriculum from Khon Kaen University Demonstration School, covering early childhood and primary levels. Mr. Pairot Thaweewan, Mayor of Sila Municipality, presided over the opening ceremony, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Issara Kanjak, Dean of the Faculty of Education, and Mr. Sakchai Boonnom, Director of Kotha Municipality School, who gave a report on the importance of this activity. Mr. Pairot Thaweewan, Mayor of Sila Municipality, said, “Today is a proud moment for the people of Sila Municipality that we have jointly created an educational future for our children. In the future, the Sila Municipality Demonstration School will be established, which will be an important step in upgrading the quality of local education to high standards. The cooperation with Khon Kaen University through the MOU is an important turning point that helps develop a modern curriculum and teaching system, with the Faculty of Education and Khon Kaen University Demonstration School as mentors to provide advice and transfer knowledge. KKBS joins hands with the Thai Spa and Wellness Association to upgrade service education and promote Khon Kaen as a city of health tourism.

On March 8, 2025, the Asia Pacific Tourism Center under the supervision of the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, Khon Kaen University organized the project “Workshop on Service Improvement to Prepare Khon Kaen as the Future Health Tourism City” and the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Thai Spa and Wellness Association to develop the potential of students and upgrade the Thai spa, wellness, and health tourism service industry to the international stage. The event was held at the Chattantha Room, Pullman Khon Kaen Raja Orchid Hotel (Asst. Prof. Dr. Phongsut Phuensaen, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, and Ms. Chawanat Sinthueaw, President of the Spa Association Association, while signing the Memorandum of Understanding). During the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding, Mr. Yuthaporn Pirunsan, Deputy Governor of Khon Kaen Province, was honored to give a speech in support of the project organization. Assistant Professor Dr. Metthawin Phonloyothi, Director of the Asia Pacific Tourism Center, gave a report on the project objectives. Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University, joins hands with the industrial sector to maintain medical equipment.

The Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University, in collaboration with the Thai Cutting Tool Manufacturers Association and Power Stainless Steel Co., Ltd., organized a project to provide maintenance and care services for medical equipment and hospital equipment to support medical services, reduce hospital expenses, and transfer maintenance knowledge to medical personnel at Khong Chiam Hospital, Ubon Ratchathani Province. The first medical equipment maintenance activity was held on March 14, 2025 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Khong Chiam Hospital, Ubon Ratchathani Province by the operational personnel team of the Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University, who visited the area to provide maintenance services for damaged or deteriorated equipment, totaling more than 50 items, and provided advice on the care of medical equipment to ensure efficient and safe use. The main objective of the project is to maintain medical equipment that can still be used to reduce the cost of purchasing new equipment. In addition, it focuses on transferring maintenance knowledge to medical personnel, hospital staff, students, and the community, as well as promoting cooperation between the Faculty of Engineering, the private sector, and the community to develop a sustainable medical equipment maintenance system.

On March 8-9, 2025, the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, Khon Kaen University organized the “KKBS Startup Camp 2025: Global Mindset” project, an activity to provide an opportunity for Khon Kaen University students to learn about startup businesses, from basic business knowledge, product design concepts, project feasibility assessment principles, and teamwork. This activity was supported by the operation to develop new enterprise entrepreneurs (Startups) under the academic cooperation between Khon Kaen University and the Technology and Innovation Entrepreneur Development Fund, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. The Faculty was established as a TED Fellow.
