The Lithium-ion Battery Prototype Factory of Khon Kaen University is located in the Northeast Science Park. It is a prototype factory for producing “nano-silicon” from rice husks and rice husk ashes for use in lithium-ion battery electrodes. It can store 12 times more energy than carbon, is small, lightweight, can store the highest amount of energy compared to other commercial rechargeable batteries, and has a long life before recharging. This is considered important for the future development of the industrial sector.
